QAT Cycle
(i) Content Book
ADU prepares and regulates the syllabus/ content book from which papers are developed. Content Book is a helping tool which is designed for class wise syllabus related guidance to facilitate the partner schools. It is designed class wise and topic wise based on the contents prescribed under Punjab Text Book Board so that the partner schools may know about standardized parameter through which their students will be assessed.
(ii) Development of Model Papers
Subject Specialists prepare the model papers for all classes. The purpose of these model papers is to guide the school teachers and principals about QAT pattern and marking scheme. After preparing the model papers, ADU uploads these model papers on PEF website so that all schools may access model papers and prepare students for exams accordingly. Following model papers are readily available on the website:
- Model Papers for Regular QATs
- Model Papers for Preliminary QATs
- EVS Evening Classes
- Model Papers for PSSP QATs
ADU ensures the availability of past years QAT papers on website for the guidance of PEF partner schools. The purpose is to assist partner schools to prepare students for exams accordingly.
(iii) Development of QAT Papers
ADU prepares subject wise multiple templates of QAT papers for each class to ensure the secrecy and credibility of assessment.
(iv) Printing of QAT Scripts
These papers are sent for printing after the approval of the Competent Authority. Complete secrecy is ensured from printing till packing of paper. After printing, the packed papers are handed over to conduct party.
(v) QAT Conduct
The QAT conduct plan for each PEF program starts with the finalization of QAT calendar in start of financial year.
- Preparation of QAT conduct starts with effect from October every year. It is ensured that QAT is conducted in PEF partner schools prior to PEC and Board exams.
- Students’ enrolment data is collected from all programs two months prior to the conduct of QAT.
- Number of classes to be tested in regular QAT and preliminary QAT are finalized as follows:

Execution of QAT Monitoring Plan
ADU prepares a QAT Monitoring Plan for execution of the monitoring by the PEF officials. Later, before execution of plan, orientation trainings of supervisors and PEF monitors are arranged by ADU. ADU carries out the orientation sessions for effective monitoring of QATs. In this regard, ADU sets up a ‘Control Room’ during QAT to:
- Assist PEF monitors during QAT for test conduct in smooth way
- Handle emergencies (if any)
- Identify issues and resolve all possible queries during QAT
- Record all proceedings for later analysis
After QAT conduct completes, monitors submit their observations with ADU on prescribed monitoring forms. ADU compiles the monitoring observations for onward process.
(vi) Marking of QAT Papers
After following thorough procedures as laid down in SOP's for ADU, QAT papers are handed over to the marking firm for evaluation.
ADU develops marking keys of the papers and detailed rubrics. The orientation sessions are organized with markers to develop clarity for effective and transparent paper marking.
ADU closely monitors the whole activity of marking of QAT papers and thus ensures the quality and transparency in awarding marks as per SOPs. Recently, ADU has successfully completed the initial pilot phase for in-house marking thus soon ADU would have more vital and challenging role in organizing the in-house marking of QAT papers for all programs.
(vii) Result of QAT
After necessary verifications of result and approval from the Competent Authority, result is announced on PEF’s official website and is communicated to partner schools through respective programs. ADU displays QAT results subject wise and class wise so that the schools may analyze their weak areas and focus to improve them in next QAT’s.
Rechecking Process:
The purpose of rechecking is to give all partner schools a fair chance to get their results reviewed.
Therefore, for paper rechecking, the interested school may apply within 20 days after issuance of result through a formal application addressing to Director / HoD ADU along with the paper rechecking fee which is Rs. 10,000 as per existing policy of the PEF. Additional 10 days (after the expiry of twenty days from issuance day of result) may be given to partner schools subject to the collection of double fee i.e. Rs. 20,000/- each school as late rechecking fee with approval of MD and Chairman.
