PEF ensured equitable access to education- Dr. Aneela Salman

Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) has ensured equitable access of every deserving child to quality education so that the children from disfranchised communities could improve the quality of life through education. Our need-based educational interventions are very helpful in alleviating poverty and mitigating illiteracy as parents are now sending their children to PEF sponsored schools instead of making them a victim of child-labour.
Managing Director PEF Dr. Aneela Salman told this while addressing the technical session of Pakistan Innovation Corridor held under the aegis of Ilm Ideas, in Islamabad.
She said that PEF is the most successful free educational model of repute which is helping to change lives of 1.7 million deserving children in Punjab through education. 45 percent of them are girls, which show that girls have great interest in education. What they need is an enabling environment to study and grow as useful citizens of the society. She maintained that this number will continue to rise as different programs are regularly expanded to accommodate more and more needy children.
PEF has also helped the low-cost private schools in a number of ways; it has helped them to improve the quality of teaching by arranging capacity building of partner schools’ teachers. It has also provided subject specialists to private partners to teach the subjects of science, math and English, besides working to improve the overall standards of education. In Fact, education has great potential to help improve the soft image of the country as our students are multi-talented who can earn niche in every field.
The technical session was also addressed by Ms. Shaheen Attiq ur Rehman, Ahsan Jamil, Abid Gill and Muzaffar Uddin. Dr. Faisal Bari acted as moderator of the session.
The one-day Pakistan Innovation Corridor was held to showcase innovative developments in country’s education sector as well as to discuss critical issues and challenges it faces.
